- The municipality of Felanitx covers an area of 171.67 square kilometres and has a population of 14,332 inhabitants.
The towns and villages comprised in this municipality are: Felanitx, Portocolom, Cas Concos d'Es Cavaller, s'Horta and Cala Ferrera.
- The placename of Felanitx comes from the Latin "Fenalicius" and appears documented already in 1232. Since the Liberation from the Moors, the whole area of the present municipality of Felanitx, as well a that of Porreres, has been called Felanitx.
In 1300 Pere Sturç and Ramon Desbrull, commissioned by King Jaume I, drew the first plan of the town.
In 1886, the regent Queen, María Cristina, granted it the title of City.
- CASTLE OF SANTUERI
The castle is situated on a cliff 408 metres above sea-level. It covers an area of 426 areas. The name Santueri has been documented since 1228. King Jaume I conquered it from the Moors in 1231.
