Eight sportsmen of the Balearics have been nominated for the Paralympics of London
The sportsmen have been nominated to represent Spain during the Paralympics’ Games of London that will be challenged during 12 days from the 29th of August to the 9 of September.
The nominated sportsmen are: Xavi Torres (swimming), who already has challenged five editions of the Paralympics, Lorena Homar (swimming), Esther Morales (swimming), Alejandro Sánchez (swimming), Ricardo Sevillano (Olympic Shooting), as well as Joan Munar (athlete) and Robert Mena (basketball in the wheelchair).
The district councilor of Tourism and Sports Carlos Delgado and the executive director of the Paralympics’ committee of Spain Alberto Jofre accompanied the sportsmen as well as they manifested the grand objectives that the Spanish Paralympics’ team is following in those games, which constitute the worldwide biggest exponent of sports in a high competition with disability.
For their part, both Xavi Torres and Lorena Homar showed their satisfaction about their nomination to participate in those games in which more than 4200 sportsmen of more than 160 different countries will compete for one of the 500 Paralympics’ medals.
